If You Are a Hairdresser, Hair is Your Business

When you decide to become a hairdresser, hair is your business. You are responsible for the way that people look when they walk out of your salon. You can make their week by giving them a great cut.
In order to help you be the best hairdresser you could be, here are a few things that you can do to help your customers have a better experience with you.

1. Don't allow a late client to put you off schedule. Make sure that you have a firm rule in place that if someone is more than 10 or 15 minutes late, they will have to reschedule. While it is sure that you will miss out on that appointment, it is much better to do that then you become more and more behind in your schedule as the day goes on. This will upset your clients that have come to their appointments on time.

2. Do not allow children to disrupt your salon. Not only is this a hazardous and it could mean a lawsuit if a child is hurt in your store, it is also inconsiderate for the other patrons. If you have a mom that cannot come to your appointment without bringing her children, then just gently remind her that she needs to make sure that they do not run wild. You might consider having a small area where children can have coloring books, crayons, and small toys. This can be a great help to mom and also to you.

3. Be sure that you do not allow yourself to be distracted while you are working on a client. Do not chat on your cell phone or chatter too much with other employees while you're working on a client's hair. Make sure that you focus on your client.

4. Be sure that you do not pass along any type of illness to your client. Use hand sanitizer and frequent hand washing in order to prevent any type of illness to be passed to your client. Sneeze into your elbow instead of into your hands.

These are just a few tips to help you as a hairdresser. Hair styling can be an incredibly rewarding career, if it is done right.
